Catania

One of the few cities in Italy to offer such diverse landscapes concentrated in a single site. The snow-capped peaks of Mount Etna, the crystal-clear sea of the Ionian coast, the Sicilian Baroque style of the churches and some of the palaces, the historical and archaeological heritage, the music, the food and wine traditions and the human warmth welcome tourists all year round.

Catania is a city that leaves you spellbound, and visiting it is a constant surprise: you can stroll along its grand 18th-century avenues and relax in one of the many bars and restaurants on Via Etnea, the ideal place for shopping and the beating heart of Catania’s social life. Among the scenic streets, you can admire the characteristic Elephant Fountain in Piazza Duomo, the true centre of the historic city.

Catania’s coastline is characterised by an alternation of sandy beaches and rocky lava coasts. Visiting Catania you can’t miss to taste the typical food that this wonderful city offers: arancini, pasta alla Norma, pasta with squid ink and with “i mascolini”. At the end of the meal a typical dessert such as cannoli with ricotta cheese, marzipan and torrone di Sant’Agata.
